The Vietnam War was still ongoing, NASA continued sending orbiters around the moon and The Beatles released their game-changing album, <em>Sgt. Pepper&#8217;s Lonely Hearts Club Band<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Closer to home, Crossroads Camping opened in Kaysville (later known as Cherry Hill) and the Hotel Utah in Salt Lake City was extensively remodeled. Lagoon opened two new rides, each replacing an older version of the same type of ride. Terroride opened in the old Spook House \/ Temple Of Terror location and the new Animaland Train replaced the former Lakeshore Express.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lagoonhistory.com\/project\/attractions\/terroride\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"260\" height=\"113\" src=\"https:\/\/lagoonhistory.com\/project\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Terroride-Logo.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1474\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"entertainment\">ENTERTAINMENT<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Friday nights throughout the season, a battle of the bands contest was held with a long list of local bands. A member of one of the bands, Shy, shared this memory with LHP:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I remember the rotating stage. While the band who appeared before us played, we set up on the reverse side. When our turn came, the stage started to turn. Unfortunately, lead guitar player, Curt Fuller, and I had Sears Silvertone amplifiers with wheels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the stage rotated, the amps started rolling. We had to scramble to hold them in place. I recall leaning on the amp to make it appear as if that was part of our casual stage demeanor, but in fact it was to keep our equipment from flying off the stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The rest of the set played well. The band members: Curt Fuller (guitar), Steve Andersen (keyboards), Carol Ritchie (vocals), Dennis Ritchie (drums), Craig Shurtleff (bass &amp; vocals). It was fun and memorable to play on the same stage where so many great bands had performed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<cite>Craig Shurtleff<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some of the more widely-known performers that came to Lagoon in 1967 included Johnny Cash and June Carter, The Electric Prunes, Sergio Mendes and The Turtles.
