When Log Flume unexpectedly closed for good at the end of 2022, many speculated about the future of the area left behind by the 50-year-old ride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September 2024, signs were placed on the fence around the former ride enclosure announcing The District as a coming attraction for Pioneer Village. Then on 21 November 2024, Steamworx was the first of three rides to be announced for The District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steamworx is an ART Engineering Wild Swing and is the first of its kind to operate in North America. Prior to 2025, seven of these rides opened across Europe, starting with one in Austria in 2022. The ride is like a smaller version of Lagoon’s Cliffhanger without the water instead of flipping upside down, the gondola swings freely back and forth as it rotates vertically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The queue is contained in the former Gold Springs picnic terrace, originally built in 2000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
