For those who are unfamiliar, ZCMI was a regional department store chain that started in Salt Lake City in 1868. The company was eventually sold in 1999 and today the remaining stores have become either Macy&#8217;s or Dillard&#8217;s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"480\" src=\"http:\/\/lagoonhistory.com\/project\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/zcmi98a.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5980\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lagoonhistory.com\/project\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/zcmi98a.jpg 600w, https:\/\/lagoonhistory.com\/project\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/zcmi98a-300x240.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Now for the Lagoon connection. In the 1990s, ZCMI was a sponsor for Lagoon&#8217;s entertainment, such as the long-running Carousel Theater show,&nbsp; <em>Rock U2 The Top<\/em>. In August 1998, ZCMI mailed out a small catalog to customers featuring back to school fashions in various locations around Lagoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"518\" src=\"http:\/\/lagoonhistory.com\/project\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/zcmi98b.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5981\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lagoonhistory.com\/project\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/zcmi98b.jpg 600w, https:\/\/lagoonhistory.com\/project\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/zcmi98b-300x259.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If you look past the somewhat awkward teenage models, you&#8217;ll also see a few things that have changed since that photo shoot two decades ago &#8211; Centennial Screamer with its original backdrop, the old ticket booth at the entrance to Colossus.
