In October 2025, Lagoon broke the news that Jet Star 2, one of Lagoon’s two classic Schwarzkopf coasters, would close at the end of the 2025 season, but that it would be replaced by a “worthy successor”. Over the following year, there was much speculation about what could live up to the legendary Jet Star 2 while using the same, relatively small footprint.
Work began on the site in 2026. In early August, it became obvious a little more room would be needed when the neighboring Flying Aces were removed.
Details about the ride were teased by the park beginning in mid-September and at a special event on October 3rd was held to reveal the new name and further information about Lagoon’s next roller coaster.

The new coaster will be the first launched single rail coaster in the United States and features a custom track layout for Lagoon with three inversions and several opportunities for airtime.
The ‘J3’ portion of the name is a play on the ‘F1’ from Formula 1 racing and a nod to the fact that it replaced Jet Star 2.
