I remember Joe Cocker, Elvin Bishop, and ELO there from the mid to early 70s.
I saw Heart and Boston at the Terrace in ’75/’76.
@Richard King:
I’m glad you posted that. I KNEW I saw them both together there but I can find no evidence of the date in Heart’s tour schedule archive. I was also remembering seeing Heart a second time with another act at the Terrace as well.
Hank Williams, Jr. played there one night in 1980 sometime.
Thanks, I’ll try to track down a date for that year.
I saw Heart/Boston there in the summer of 1976. Apparently Heart replaced Aerosmith, the headliner, and opened for Boston. Was supposedly Heart’s first concert in USA. Boston’s effects were off so didn’t sound exactly like album. There was no elevated stage. On the floor was like a general admission ticket and the bands were literally standing right in front of us.
My compliments for your great website ! According to vintage press “The Salt Lake Tribune” issue 12 February 1974 (gig review on page 19) FLEETWOOD MAC and LYNYRD SKYNYRD played 11 February 1974 Salt Lake City – Terrace Ballroom ! I’ll hope this helps !
Thanks for your help. Glad you like the website!
According to excellent GENTLE GIANT website run by fan Jack Skelly http://ggconcerts.on-reflection.org/part3.htm J.GEILS BAND and GENTLE GIANT played Salt Lake City – Terrace Ballroom 25 April 1973. I’ll hope this helps !
That does help. Thanks!
According to vintage press THE SALT LAKE TRIBUNE issue 7 October 1976 (on page 19 gig review) LYNYRD SKYNRD played Salt Palace and not Terrace Ballroom. Also and advert about this gig (played at Salt Palace) on newspaper THE DAILY UTAH CHRONICLE issue 5 October 1976 on page 14.
LYNYRD SKYNYRD played also 28 June 1977 in Salt Lake City – Salt Palace (not Terrace Ballroom) according to an advert on newspaper THE DAILY UTAH CHRONICLE issue 7 July 1977 on page 6. Another newspaper THE SALT LAKE TRIBUNE issue 26 June 1977 (on page 77 and again on page 80) says LYNYRD SKYNYRD, DICKIE BETTS and JOURNEY at Salt Palace Tuesday 28 June 1977.
I’ll hope this helps !
Definitely helpful. Thanks again!
I remember seeing Eric Burdon and the Animals, I think in 1966? Also the Thursday night dances that the LDS Church put on.
Thanks! I looked it up and found they opened for Herman’s Hermits on 9 Jul 1966. I also found out they played at The Terrace in 1964 during their first US tour.
I still have a stub from 38 Special in ’79.
It was a 99FM stereo x concert for 99 cents with guests (the Fabulous Poodles).
Nice. Is there a date on that stub by chance?
